Sikkim

A small state of an area of 7046 sqkm.(approximately) in the Eastern Himalayas bordering(international) with Nepal, Bhutan & Tibet. Sikkim is nonetheless geographically diverse due to its location in the Himalayas, the climate ranges from subtropical to high alpine, and Kangchenjunga (8586 metres i.e. 28169 ft.) the world's third-highest peak, is located on Sikkim's border with Nepal. Nestling as it does in the Himalayan mountains, the state of Sikkim is characterized by mountainous terrain. Sikkim ' s botanical and zoological richness is awe - inspiring, boasting of more than 4000 species of plants and 30% of all the birds found in the Indian sub - continent . Sikkim is a popular tourist destination, owing to its culture, scenery and biodiversity. It also has the only open land border between India and China. Sikkim ' s capital and largest city is Gangtok.
